Weekend Wear

We hope you a great weekend! We sure did. It was another gorgeous and HOT weekend here in Chicago. On Saturday we hit up the Old Town Art Fair and then headed up to Wrigley Field for the Brad Paisley concert with our family. I {Caitlin} don't know a single Brad Paisley song, but it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Carrie Underwood also made a surprise performance! {Though, sadly, I have no photos to report from the concert as my camera battery was confiscated by security :( }. Anyway, Em and I captured some pre-event photos of our Fest/Concert looks. How did you all spend your weekend?

Love,

Update: Apparently Carrie Underwood was a hologram. Now we know why it's called the Virtual Tour, I guess!

Our Take On - Pastels

This week, we tackle pastels! Comment below and let us know which look you prefer! {We promise not to fight too much about the results.}

Pink Jeans: Zara; Blouse: J.Crew {I am obsessed with this top and own it in 4 colors}; Scarf: Zara;  Jean Jacket: Gap {similar here}; Shoes: Via Spiga; Bag: Louis Vuitton Speedy; Sunglasses: Tory Burch.

There is nothing I love more than trying to find new ways to wear the same items. I bought these pants from Zara about a month ago on a whim {okay most of my purchases are on a whim} with no real thought on what to wear them with...so I have been experimenting. Low and behold the trusted silk Blythe top from J. Crew comes in handy AGAIN {I have it in 4 colors}, and with a little pop of color from the scarf, a casual jean jacket - boom, I'm done! Okay not yet, the shoes. I got these on sale at Bloomingdale's a couple months ago and am so grateful for the find. They are just the right the right amount of casual/can be dressed up and the perfect summer shoe to go with just about everything!
But of course, no outfit is complete without my pup Macy!

The ultimate accessory, my pup Macy.

When brainstorming what pastel item{s} to wear, I knew immediately that I wanted to rock this crochet tank after receiving it as a gift Monday. I had already worn it twice before {because I'm in love with it!}, so I wanted to try pairing it with something completely different and unexpected. Et voila, this Urban silk razorback tank with ruffle detailing that I literally haven't worn since a trip to NYC in the summer of 2010. I totally forgot I owned it, which is so awesome because it feels brand new again! Don't you just love that?

With pastels being a typically feminine look, I decided to offset the frilli-ness of my outfit with some edgy jewelry. In my opinion, you can never go wrong with spikes. Especially when you're sporting not only one, but two different shades of pastels.

*Side note: I know I desperately need a manicure and pedicure! But something turns me off about paying for one when I know I can I do it myself {although admittedly much worse}!

CAITLIN

1. A bit on the fancy side, this Diane Von Furstenberg dress would be perfect for a tented event.
2. This Patterson J. Kincaid dress is a great price point and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.
3. Tibi always makes gorgeous dresses {albeit a bit pricey}. This one could definitely be worn at a summer wedding too.
4. I love the zipper accent and ruched waist on this watercolor-esque Theory number.
5. I actually just purchased this Rachel Pally jersey dress. The cutouts are unexpected and add a little spice. Perfect for a more casual event. {Stay tuned for future posts on how I wear the dress!}
6. Love the colors on this Shoshanna strapless dress.
7. Lilly Pullitzer gets a makeover! Love the mint lace. Can be dressed up with heels or down with flats and a jean jacket.
8. My personal fav is this girly maxi from Elizabeth & James {Click the link and zoom in for a much better look :)}

EMILY

1.  I almost bought this Lipsy dress for my graduation ceremony, but with the neon detailing, it'd be a fun option for a nighttime graduation party.
2. Love me some off-the-shoulder detailing.
3. Loving the palette of this Free People dress, as well as its laid back vibe.
4. Notice a pattern? Tie dye perhaps? This Gypsy 05 dress is perfect for a laid back BBQ party.
5. Mmm, this Topshop dress looks like rainbow sorbet. And it has studs, even better.
6. As I'm always one for flow-y items, this Alice & Olivia dress is right up my alley.
 7. Love the lace overlay at the bottom of this Juicy dress, not to mention the bright color.

8. I'm seriously contemplating purchasing this dress for my own graduation party in a couple weeks...you can't go wrong with white, or Free People.

Weekend Wear

We took advantage of the beautiful Chicago weather this weekend and ventured out into the city with friends. Read on to see how we styled our Saturday {or Friday} nights!

Saturday night I had an engagement/housewarming party to attend for close friends. While the dress code was casual, I never miss an opportunity to dress up a bit. This blazer was perfect and gave me just the amount of coverage to bear the patio for a bit {it's still getting quite cold here at night}. I was in a rush, so I just ended throwing my hair up into a topknot {super easy and nicely fakes a "pulled together" look}. But the highlight of the outfit? Well let's just say, my "chains" were a big hit. I guess even I have a little thug in me :).

Little shout out to Dustin & Jess on the engagement... Congrats!
Blazer: Zara {no longer available}; Cami: J.Crew; Shorts: J.Crew; Necklace: Spike the Punch; Bracelets: Alex & Ani {purchased from Gilt.com}; Earrings: Bella Cosa; Watch: Michele; Nail Polish: Dior Riviera

Shoes: Belle by Sigerson Morrison {now majorly on sale!}

EMILY
First things first...Caitlin, you will never have "a little thug" in you. That's not a "chain hang low"-esque chain.

But I am a bit saintly;) I mean, three crosses in one outfit? I think that's a new personal record. I think crosses are currently my favorite new trend, considering I just bought a new cut-off tee with a washed-out cross print. I guess that means I should start attending Sunday Church more regularly {note to self!}.

Friday night I hit the {Chi} town with a bunch of my guy friends. I'm not one for getting very dressed up {especially when I'm the only girl in a group of guys}, which is why my "going out" outfit might be a little more dressed down than one might expect. As much as I LOVE heels - especially platform wedges - I usually stray from wearing them so I don't tower everyone in the bars. {Oh the perks of being 5' 9.5"...}. But, since I'm trying to transition from college bars with sticky floors to cleaner, more mature bars, I'm trying to transition my wardrobe as well. Hence the heels. I gotta say, I am enjoying the excuse to break out the half of my wardrobe that has previously been unused.

Thanks to my boyfriend for trying being my photog:)
