What2Wear - High-Low Hem

You have probably noticed, but the "high-low" trend is EVERYWHERE. From blouses, shirts, tanks and jackets to dresses and skirts {are pants next?}, you have probably seen it. There are various ways the look can be worn too, ranging from classic to hipster and everywhere in between. Take a look below to see how we give this trend a whirl.

Which one of our looks gets a "high" five in your book? {get it? :) }

EMILY
When Cait and I decided on the high-low hem as our latest conquest, I was pumped because this look is right up my alley. It's new, different and something that most people might be hesitant to try. I, on the other hand, am so on the high-low bandwagon that I bought a high-low skirt a few months ago when the trend was just on the rise.

I actually own the Urban Outfitters skirt I featured below as of last Friday, so this was the perfect opportunity for me to plan a few ways to wear it. The white and pale pink items are the appropriate day accompaniments, while the black pieces make this skirt perfect for a night out. It just goes to show that a trendy, statement piece like this can continue to look fresh even after its initial use.

This Gryphon dress could likely be considered "borderline" as far as the high-low trend goes, but I think I am going to ease myself into this fad. I am not sure that the high-low thing is totally "me" and I always like to stay true to my personal style no matter how ubiquitous a trend becomes. If I don't feel comforabtle in it, I won't wear it.

I styled this dress two ways - one is dressier for evening {left} and one that is more appropriate for a casual night or brunch/shopping {right}.

And how stinking cute are those black studded flip flops. Definitely coveting those...

What2Wear - Las Vegas

We are heading to Vegas in a couple of weeks with our significant others to celebrate Emily and Jason's {her bf} graduation from college. That of course got us thinking about what to pack and what's on our wish list for the desert trip!

Since it will probably be at least 95 degrees the whole time, swimwear is key. But it is Vegas after all, which is always a good excuse to glam it up a bit. So the perfect "going out" dress is in order too.

Read on for our picks! Let us know your feedback and what's on YOUR list :)

CAITLIN

1. This Equipment top is perfect for daytime shopping.
2. The ideal "going out" skirt from BCBG. I would wear it with a flow-y top to balance it out.
3. A friend actually owns this Myne dress and it's gorgeous {this photo does it no justice}. It can be dressed up for a night out but some wedges could make it more casual for daytime, a la Kim.
4. I love this little sequin leopard number from Rebecca Taylor for a nice dinner and a show. The leopard print is subtle, which makes it very feminine :)
5. I have been searching high and low for some black sandals {it seems like I mostly wear nude or brown these days}. These Topshop ones seem pretty versatile and I LOVE the ties.
6. How cute are these sandals from Charlotte Russe?? And only $30! What's not to love?

1. Love the detail on this Zimmermann bandeau!
2. This Marc by Marc Jacobs suit is so colorful and fun! Perfect for Vegas.
3. Some girlfriends and I gifted this Rebecca Minkoff bag to a friend as a bachelorette gift and I have been eying it ever since! Perfect pool bag! {and now it's on sale!}
4. This Nanette Lepore suit is so girly with the frilly detailing.
5. A bit more subdued than the rest, I love this nautical bikini from Vix. {Note the leather detailing}
6. A tribal look from Vix.
**Help me choose the perfect suit!**

EMILY

1. Not only do I love the vibrant color of this Planet Blue dress, I love the low back, which is unfortunately not pictured here.
2.  These Charlotte Russe shoes are awesome for three reasons - nude {goes with everything}, spikes and they're not a bank-breaker.
3. Hot pink? Check. Lace pattern? Check. Wedge? Check. My ultimate shoe from Aldo.
4. Cutouts and an angled hemline make this otherwise understated Planet Blue dress super cool and edgy.
5&8. It's all in the details with this Mikoh Monaco swimsuit. And it's even better in a color that emphasizes a tan.
6. With the right heels, this Planet Blue dress is the perfect ensemble for a night out in Vegas clubs, but can also double as a laid-back pool cover up the next day.
7. Two-toned and fluttery, this ASOS skirt is the perfect off-set to a simple white tee for a trendy look to take from day to night.
9. This Planet Blue dress might be my ultimate pool cover up. I love me some tie dye for a relaxed daytime look.
10. These Topshop shorts are the ideal amount of fun and dressy, and so utterly perfect for Vegas.
11. With a leather trim, this bright floral print Lipsy dress is edged up and ready to hit the town.
12. Again with the studs, this Deux Lux black clutch is the perfect accessory to top off any outfit.

1. A bit on the fancy side, this Diane Von Furstenberg dress would be perfect for a tented event.
2. This Patterson J. Kincaid dress is a great price point and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.
3. Tibi always makes gorgeous dresses {albeit a bit pricey}. This one could definitely be worn at a summer wedding too.
4. I love the zipper accent and ruched waist on this watercolor-esque Theory number.
5. I actually just purchased this Rachel Pally jersey dress. The cutouts are unexpected and add a little spice. Perfect for a more casual event. {Stay tuned for future posts on how I wear the dress!}
6. Love the colors on this Shoshanna strapless dress.
7. Lilly Pullitzer gets a makeover! Love the mint lace. Can be dressed up with heels or down with flats and a jean jacket.
8. My personal fav is this girly maxi from Elizabeth & James {Click the link and zoom in for a much better look :)}

EMILY

1.  I almost bought this Lipsy dress for my graduation ceremony, but with the neon detailing, it'd be a fun option for a nighttime graduation party.
2. Love me some off-the-shoulder detailing.
3. Loving the palette of this Free People dress, as well as its laid back vibe.
4. Notice a pattern? Tie dye perhaps? This Gypsy 05 dress is perfect for a laid back BBQ party.
5. Mmm, this Topshop dress looks like rainbow sorbet. And it has studs, even better.
6. As I'm always one for flow-y items, this Alice & Olivia dress is right up my alley.
 7. Love the lace overlay at the bottom of this Juicy dress, not to mention the bright color.

8. I'm seriously contemplating purchasing this dress for my own graduation party in a couple weeks...you can't go wrong with white, or Free People.
